How we review online glasses stores

What we look at

  1. Real price – frame plus lenses and common add-ons (anti-glare, blue-light, high-index, progressives), shipping and discounts.
  2. Lens options – what prescriptions each store can fill, including strong and progressive prescriptions.
  3. Choosing frames – frame range, size information and virtual try-on.
  4. Ordering – how prescription and pupillary distance (PD) are entered, and help if you don’t have your PD.
  5. Shipping, returns and remakes – timelines and what’s covered if the glasses don’t work for you.
  6. Insurance – whether vision insurance or FSA/HSA can be used.

Where our information comes from

  • Retailers’ own websites, policies and pricing – linked in each article’s sources.
  • Our own orders, only when we actually placed them. Articles say clearly which is which.
  • Guidance from professional and public health bodies for anything about eyes and prescriptions.

We never invent test results, photos or customer reviews.

Keeping it current

Prices and promotions change constantly. Every article shows when its facts were last checked, and we re-check key facts at least every 90 days.

Independence

Retailers can’t pay for placement. We’ll tell you when a store that doesn’t pay us is the better choice. See our affiliate disclosure.
